Policies

It is my intention to provide guests with a professional and therapeutic massage in a safe and nurturing environment.  The following policies and procedures serve as a guide for first-time and regular massage clients of WellBody Massage Center.

Client Code of conduct…

Clients have the RIGHT to:

  • A clean, safe, comfortable and nurturing environment

  • Stop a treatment at any time, for any reason

  • Be treated with consideration, dignity and respect

  • Trained staff who respectfully conduct treatments according to company protocols, policies and procedures

  • Ask about their experience at WellBody

  • Information regarding therapist training, licensing and certification

 

Clients have the RESPONSIBILITY to:

  • Communicate their preferences, expectations and concerns

  • Communicate complete and accurate health information and reasons for their visit

  • Treat staff and other guests with courtesy and respect

  • Use products, equipment and therapies as directed

  • Adhere to WellBody’s published policies and procedures

Arrival to your massage…

Please arrive 10 minutes prior to the scheduled starting time.  This allows you the time to fill out the appropriate client forms, change and prepare for your service.  All massages have a specific time schedule and early arrival allows for a relaxed and unhurried experience.

 

Cancellation policy…

Please provide at least 24 hours notice if you need to reschedule or cancel a treatment.  This gives us ample time to fill the time slot.  If you are not able to cancel within 24 hours and you can find someone to take your appointment time, the other client will then be responsible for the service fees.

 

Late arrival…

We regret that late arrivals will not receive extension of scheduled appointments.  In special cases, and when our schedule allows, we may be able to accommodate a partial or full appointment.  This will be at our discretion and only with proper, advanced notification of your late arrival.  The original service fee will be charged.

 

No show policy…

Clients who fail to show for appointments may be asked to pre-pay for future appointments. 

Sickness...
Massage/bodywork is not appropriate care for infectious or contagious illness. Please cancel your 
appointment as soon as you are aware of an infectious or contagious condition. If it is within the 24-hour 
notice period, the cancellation fee may be waived.

Informed consent…

Prior to each massage session, the treatment plan will be discussed with you.  At your first visit with us, you will receive a copy of the massage therapy policies and will be asked to sign the consent stating that you have read the information, understand it and agree to comply with the professional massage therapy policies and procedures.  Clients who we have not seen for at least a year will also be asked to fill out the form

 

Scope of Practice…

WellBody massage therapists are licensed professionals and held to the highest standards of the American Bodywork & Massage Professionals (ABMP).

Massage therapy is a profession in which the practitioner applies manual techniques, and may apply adjunctive therapies, with the intention of positively affecting the health and well-being of the client.  Techniques will not be performed if the therapist is not adequately trained.

Massage therapists do not perform manipulations or adjustments of the human skeletal structure, diagnose, prescribe, or provide any other service, procedure or therapy that requires a license to practice chiropractic, osteopathy, physical therapy, podiatry, orthopedics, psychotherapy, acupuncture, dermatology or any other profession or branch of medicine unless specifically licensed to do so.

Massage therapists are educated and understand the physiological effects of the specific massage techniques utilized in order to determine whether such application is contraindicated and/or to determine the most beneficial techniques to apply to a given individual.   Treatments will not be applied in those cases where there are contraindications without a written referral from the client’s primary care provider.

 

Professional boundaries…

Requests for sexual activity will not be tolerated, will be viewed as solicitation, and reported to the proper authorities.  The client will not be rescheduled it this occurs.  The breast and genital area will not be massaged under any circumstances and a professional distance will be maintained from these areas.  Sexual interaction or discussion of any kind between the client and massage therapist is NEVER appropriate.

 

Confidentiality and conversation…

The discussion between the onsite massage therapist and the client is confidential.  The client may or may not choose to talk during the massage.  We are happy to listen to your conversation and share our professional expertise.  We prefer to not discuss topics of a political, private or sexual nature.

 

Existing and new medical conditions…

It is the responsibility of the client to keep the onsite massage therapist informed of any medical treatment currently being taken and to provide written permission from the physician, chiropractor, physical therapist, etc.  so that the massage may be continued.
